Activities - relax in the beautiful Cornish
countryside
Tregondale Manor Farm is situated
in an attractive valley close to Liskeard. It is a great place for families, with
freedom to roam and its own nature trails.
We are near Looe and Polperro and set
between the magnificent coasts of north and
south Cornwall, with their fine beaches and
surfing venues. Bodmin Moor, with its many
secret corners, and the more familiar
Dartmoor are each within a short distance,
along with the
Eden Project,
Lost Gardens of Heligan,
and other great
gardens of Cornwall and many National Trust
properties including
Lanhydrock,
Antony and
Cotehele.
We are
also just a few minutes away from the
UNESCO Cornish Mining World Heritage Site
at Caradon Hill.
At Tregondale Manor you are always close to
a great day out - or you can just relax on
the farm and even make use of our hard
tennis court. Venture out around the farm,
exploring our nature trail and wooded areas
or play a game of tennis on the all weather
court. There are also places for viewing our
farm stock which are extremely popular at
lambing and calving times.
There's also plenty of opportunity for the more
adventurous, with trails for walking and
cycling, and waterways close by for those
wanting to enjoy an afternoon or day's
fishing or golf at the famous St Mellion
golf course.
Take time to explore our
countryside and discover Celtic Cornwall,
with it's cliffs and coves, harbours and
estuaries, meandering valleys and sleepy
hamlets.
Cycling…
If you enjoy taking in our beautiful
countryside at your own pace and you are
interested in cycling and exploring,
Tregondale Manor is the place to be. You can
pedal through woods and valleys, by rivers
and lakes, and over hills and moors.
There are trails all around the County
including:
Sibleyback Water Park - a 15 mile
circular route to a picturesque lake,
passing through lovely countryside and
villages, gentle inclines and a half-mile
hill.
The Camel Trail - follow the river on
a disused railway line from Wadebridge to
Padstow, or from Wadebridge to Wenford.
Bodmin Moor - Bodmin Moor has miles
of tracks, paths and off road routes that
you can follow, as well as some great pubs
for the bits in between!
Cardinham Woods - Cardinham Woods is
a popular destination for cyclists of all
kinds. Cycling is permitted on all the many
miles of gravel tracks, so whether you want
to ride gently beside the river, or try a
more adventurous route on the steep valley
sides, you will find the right conditions at
Cardinham. Cycle hire is available with a
good choice of bicycles for all the family.
xplore the mysteries of Bodmin Moor.
These are just a few of the routes in the
area - we've got full details of lots more,
so if you've got bikes, make sure you bring
them!
Walking…
The best way to unwind is to take a good
walk in beautiful countryside. Whether it's
a gorgeous summer's afternoon or a crisp
autumn morning you'll feel completely
revitalised after taking in the breathtaking
surroundings.
Farm Trail - soak up the true
character of Tregondale Manor. See ancient
woodland with oak, ash, beech, sycamore,
blackthorn and holly. In springtime there's
a carpet of bluebells. At the highest point,
allow yourself to enjoy a panoramic view of
the Cornish landscape.
Ramblers' Walk - a route for the
experienced walker. In spring, you can
stroll between banks of primroses, pass the
old Wheal Honey mine and watch wildfowl.
Follow green lanes and rivers to a packhorse
bridge - then back through coppices and
hamlets to the farm.
Westbound Walk - wander beneath
overhanging trees and ferns keeping a
watchful eye for pheasant and moorland
villages in the distance. From here you get
a magnificent view of the farm in its wooded
valley and can spy on heron in the marshland
and return through a canopy of bushes via
the granite cider press.
Eastbound Walk - fresh country air
and stunning scenery. In spring and summer
the hedgerows are covered with Primroses,
pink campions, ferns and tiny wild violets.
Try a picnic on the banks of the River Tiddy;
listen for the cackle of wild geese and walk
back via Wheal Honey.
Fishing…
The county has many rural lakes and rivers,
and we can recommend the Bake fishing lakes
at Trerulefoot, but feel free to give us a
call if you want more information.
You must obtain NRA licenses, available from
any local Post Office, to fish in Cornwall.
Golf…
Because of the climate and the beautiful
countryside, Cornwall has plenty of World
Class golf courses for you to explore. |
